The Botanical Garden of Moscow State University or, as it is also called, “The Pharmaceutical Garden” is located at Prospekt Mira, 26, Building 1. It is literally a few minutes walk from the Prospekt Mira (ring) metro station. The entrance is easy to overlook; it is located in the cafe / restaurant building. Signs, as such, no. There is a small sign, by which we safely passed. As a result, 10 minutes walked around the entire garden.

The size of the Pharmaceutical garden with a botanical garden named after Tsitsin, of course, does not compare. Its territory is much smaller.

On weekends there are guided tours. The start time of the tour can be clarified by phone: 8 (926) 989-34-94, (495) 680-5880, (495) 680-6765, (495) 680-7222. The cost of the tour is 250 rubles. In the evening it will cost 300 rubles. But it is carried out only by prior arrangement. The price of the tour includes the cost of admission. The park has two greenhouses: with tropical and subtropical plants. Entry is allowed only with a guide.

At the beginning of the 18th century, the pharmaceutical garden at this place ordered Peter I. to be defeated. The Northern War began and medicinal plants were needed to treat wounded soldiers. In Soviet times, the garden was almost completely abandoned. It began to revive in 1999. A pond was dug opposite the entrance to the park. In summertime, it becomes the residence of large carps. But we were not lucky to see them, because the pond was repaired, and the carps moved somewhere. The heath hill was broken where you can see lingonberries, blueberries, and blueberries, which belong to the genus of heather. Now they are repairing a greenhouse of subtropical plants, soon it will become bigger and higher. In general, the park is developing.

Of course, the best time to visit the botanical garden is spring, May, when everything is blooming and smelling. In the summer you can relax here and take a walk. In the park often arrange photo shoots: wedding, in the style of love-story, etc. There are many places that can be a beautiful background for photos. In winter, an orchid festival takes place in the garden. Outside the snow, and in the greenhouses of the pharmacy garden orchids are blooming.

At the bottom of the photo - a flowering magnolia. I couldn't see them live because they bloom in spring. But he could not fail to mention them, because these are rare plants for our latitudes. They grow in the south and the far east. So, the magnolias in the pharmacist garden are just Far Eastern, the southern ones here, most likely, would not have taken root.

Tree peonies. Again, only bloom in spring.

In another small pond there are turtles. They are incredibly huge amount here. On warm days they like to get out on a wooden pedestal and bask in the sun. A sculpture is installed on the pedestal, and dead turtles are sometimes mistaken for the continuation of this sculpture.

Some turtles, those that swim close to the edge of the pond, can be easily caught to take pictures. Only then you need to not forget to let go back.

We pass to the greenhouse tropical plants of the Pharmaceutical garden.

Insectivorous predatory plants. These cups in nature reach such sizes that they can easily catch and hold even small animals: frogs, mice.

Palm "fishtail". Its leaves are very similar in shape to fish tails. From the juice of this palm make different alcoholic beverages.

Orchids live on other plants, mainly in the trees. These are not parasites that feed at the expense of their owners, sucking all the juices out of them. These are epiphytes, which, if I may say so, take living space from another plant. Here, in the greenhouse of the apothecary garden, orchids are suspended in the air, not by ropes. They do not need land; in the tropics, orchids get everything they need from various trash that accumulates on the bark of the tree on which they live.

Cygnus. Botanical Garden of Moscow State University

Cycadus. This is a distant relative of our conifers, and not even a palm tree at all. The oldest tree in the greenhouse. He is over 200 years old. Gift of Count Razumovsky. Razumovsky had his own garden in the 19th century. He transferred part of the plant to MSU.

And this is a bump that grew on the cycad. Not such a weak nipple.

Pineapple in the MSU Botanical Garden

And so grow pineapples. The big ones in the greenhouse do not grow, after all, the conditions are not the same, but such small ones are quite. There is nothing there, but you can show the tourists :-).

Go to the subtropical greenhouse. There are narrow aisles, taking pictures is not very convenient, therefore there are few photos. This greenhouse is being repaired, which means that soon it will become as spacious and light as the tropical one.

I described and photographed in the Pharmaceutical garden, of course, not all plants that are in the greenhouses. There are a lot of them. See for yourself during the visit.

And we go on a walk in the garden.

We pass by the beautiful flower beds with flowers.
